Volunteers Wanted for First Strides Event
Applications are currently being accepted for volunteer staff positions for the First Strides Event on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Rogers Arena. Local minor hockey association coaches will work side by side with qualified BC Hockey course conductors to teach young players the first strides in becoming accomplished athletes, as well as quality individuals off the ice.
Positions available include:
• On-Ice Course Conductor – These conductors will be the leaders on the ice, will have input in the on-ice curriculum and will coordinate the information to the coaches
• Off-Ice Course Conductor – These conductors will be the leaders off the ice and will have input in the off-ice curriculum.
• Coaches – Minor hockey coaches will assist the coach conductors in program delivery.
The deadline to submit an application is Monday, December 8, 2014. Applicants must provide their NCCP certification number, level, and year completed, and must also have their Respect in Sport certification.
The First Strides program is a great opportunity for BC Hockey initiation/novice players aged six (6) to eight (8) to develop their skills while skating alongside a Vancouver Canucks player at Rogers Arena. For the event, 80 boys and girls (72 skaters and 8 goaltenders) will be selected to participate.
